ABOUT TRASHOVISION

You are now entering the World of Trashovision, you are no longer the viewer of the television screen but have fallen through the space that exists between the changing of channels. A dimension that exists within the human mind between that of the existential crisis and that of the fart joke.  This voyage will send you traversing at the speed of light from the close proximity of The Moon to the far reaches outside of The Realm of Possibility!

Changing like channels on a TV, so do the narratives within Trashovision, each channel encompassing different shows and different narratives within the same fictional world. In order to navigate through The World of Trashovision, I utilize science fiction as both my methodology and my approach. Through Trashovision my art practice emphasizes the impacts of; man-altered landscapes, space colonization, misuse of natural resources, consumerism, the distinctions between high and low art,  fart jokes, and the absurdity of life.

ABOUT TRAVIS GEOGHEGAN

Travis is a visual artist and illustrator from Kentucky and currently lives in Portland, Oregon. He received his BFA in painting and printmaking from Eastern Kentucky University and his MFA in print media from Pacific Northwest College of Art. His art practice explores The World of Trashovision.

“Trashovision is the metaphorical television set inside my head that is constantly playing and the remote to turn it off has broken.”

Trashovision is heavily influenced by my upbringing in Appalachia, growing up surrounded by tourist traps, roadside attractions and a lifelong affinity for sci fi and pop culture. Trashovision exists as both the “fictional world” that inhabits my art practice, as well as being the “brand” that produces a range of Trashovision merchandise such as comics, paintings, animation, drawings, print ephemera, and toys.
